The history of Pepus goes back to 2003, when Miquel Tapias, now the owner of Espinaler and the fourth generation of the Tapias family at the head of the company, decided to create a second brand of fish and shellfish preserves. Especially the white tuna.
The brand name is reminiscent of a fisherman from Vilassar de Mar, the birthplace of the Espinaler brand, who went to the Taberna Espinaler every day. Pepus, a personal friend of the Tapias family, was very popular in the city. In 2003, when the fisherman had already died, Miquel Tapias Espinaler wanted to call the second brand Pepus in memory of this loyal friend.
In 2015, the young brand was reorganized with a new look. The packaging comes with an original, young, fresh and colorful image to bring Pepus on the market and with the best quality beyond the Catalan border.
